The Punjab University Department of Social Work, along with the Sughra Begum Centre for Education Policy and Development and the Arfa Kareem Foundation, collaborated to organize a seminar named ‘Education, Social Development and Social Innovation: Arfa Kareem’s Dream’.

The seminar took place at Al Raazi Hall, offering a platform to discuss and delve into Arfa Kareem’s vision for education and social development.

“At the seminar, they introduced the Arfa Kareem Fellowship program, aiming to provide scholarships to 50 deserving students. The purpose of this program is to assist youth in the realm of education while also paying tribute to the legacy of Arfa Kareem.”

The speakers stressed the significance of leveraging advancements in the IT industry to tackle educational challenges, especially in reaching out to children who are not in school.

They emphasized the crucial role that technological developments can play in reducing educational gaps and driving social progress.

Among the notable attendees were Dr. Sonia Umar, Director of the Sughra Begum Centre for Education Policy and Development, Dr. Uzma Ashiq, Samina Karim, the chief executive officer, Chairperson of the Department of Social Work, Dr. Amjad Abbas Magsi, Chairperson of the Arfa Karim Foundation, Dr. Mahboob Hussain, Dr. Kamran Abid, the director of GG IT, Tabinda Islam, along with other respected individuals from academia and the social sector.

Their presence highlighted the importance of teamwork and unified endeavors in driving forward education and social development projects.

In a different educational initiative, the University of Okara’s Directorate of Career Counselling collaborated with e-Rozgaar to host a training workshop centered on freelancing, e-commerce, and digital marketing.

Dr. Nasrin Akhtar, Director of Career Counselling, led this workshop to help students gain vital skills needed for today’s changing digital environment.

At the workshop, the e-Rozgaar team stressed the significance of using online platforms for learning and skill-building, rather than just for leisure. By urging students to dedicate their online time to acquiring new skills, the workshop aimed to empower them to succeed in the digital economy.

The University of Okara administration’s dedication to empowering students to thrive in emerging fields was clear in their backing of initiatives like the e-Rozgaar workshop. By introducing students to cutting-edge technologies and hands-on training, the university seeks to prepare them for prosperous careers and valuable contributions to the digital job market.
