The Ministry of Interior has officially opened the new Regional Passport Office in Islamabad. Located at the I&T Center, Plot Number 18, Sector G-10/4, this modern office is now available to help residents get their passports more quickly and easily.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The new passport office features the latest technology and enhanced amenities to simplify the passport application process. DG Passport Mustafa Kamal noted that the building includes modern facilities, with separate counters for women and elderly citizens, providing a more comfortable experience for everyone.

Digital Processing and Improved Efficiency

The office will use a digital system to handle passport applications, which will cut down on wait times. Citizens will not have to stand in long lines anymore, thanks to this new technology. Extra staff will also be available to resolve issues immediately, making the service even more efficient.

Addressing the Passport Crisis

To tackle the current passport crisis, the government is investing in new laminators and printers. This includes the purchase of five Rapid Manufacturing Printers (RMPs) and two e-passport printers. These upgrades are expected to increase printing capacity from 22,000 passports per day to 55,000 per day. This boost in capacity should help reduce the existing backlog, with improvements anticipated by the last week of September.

Future Upgrades and Database Enhancements

To maintain high efficiency, the Ministry of Interior plans to buy new printers twice a year. They will also develop a new database to speed up processing. This database will allow for faster data verification from NADRA and other agencies, further improving service at the passport office.

The launch of the new Regional Passport Office represents a major step toward modernizing and improving the passport application process in Islamabad. With these upgrades, residents can look forward to a more efficient and user-friendly experience when applying for passports.
